Other GRD Department Websites

Some are good, some bad. I think the last one is the best. The last one actually has a gallery of student work. I think that is a great idea, and that the "news" page/blog should include recent artistic accomplishments from students.

Sort of like this

GSU GRD Site

This first run just became more of an old idea. Next up is adding backgrounds, photography, illustration. We will probably only keep the icons, but they will be adjusted. Also, TYPE /FONT/FACE heavier

HOA Signage Research

Additional Needs:

The front door is locked, visitors must use the side entrance to enter. The only way to know that though is by the 11x8.5" paper sign taped to the door:

The give us a long list of instructions which sound more confusing than they actually are, but it is still not easy. They want us to go here:

But "here" looks like this:

GSU GRD Web Identity & Development - Artist Statement

Building the web site for the Graphic Design Department at Georgia State University is a chance to collaborate with graphic designer, Shauna Perry. This project gives her and I the opportunity to work even more on our skills that deal with communication, compromise, and the mature and healthy sharing of ideas.

The department lacks a solid online identity with an informative source for students, potential students, and the general public. The site will provide details on the students, teachers, and the program structure and application information. We will also feature a store through etsy.com with student and faculty/staff made products. Some of the proceeds would go to the artist, while the other part will go to the department. This provides Georgia State graphic designers to showcase not only their design skills, but also their high caliber skill that graphic designers are typically unknown or undervalued for. This also gives the artist an opportunity to get their work, and their name out in the world before they enter into internships and the professional job market. Lastly, the store will bring in more web traffic and bring more attention to The Georgia State Graphic Design Program.

The site will look clean with a minimalist look and contain a limited color palette of blue, grey, and orange with a strong use of white spice. The look will be made up of sans serif type, solid iconography, radial edges, and aspects of information design. The site, as a whole, is meant to shine positive light on my portfolio, Shauna Perry’s portfolio, the graphic design program at Georgia State and it’s students, and to provide students with easy to read information regarding the program.

Hands On Atlanta Type Tweaks

I've decided on this logo, but the one on the right has the type lining up with both diagonals, while the one one the left has the type lining up with one diagonal. (See below) I think the one on the right works the best, but I may need more tweaking with that??

Hands On Atlanta Logo Progression 2

The format of the logo is developing into it's final stages. The relationship to the type and mark was problematic, my proposed solutions are below- one of the solutions has an evolved mark. I do have a favorite, and could use some suggestions for color and even type placement. Crit please!

Hands On Atlanta Logo Progression

We're almost there. I think I am ready to say goodbye to the plus signs/positivity concept, and settle on the mark of the heart and recycle/renew arrow. The plus sign is becoming a bit to hospital like. Also, when the combo uses the lowercase h, it either looks like a cross on an h or just, nothing....
